Sept. 23 ​Route 66 Parade - Grand Marshal is Miriam Hernandez

Miriam Hernandez is an Emmy award winning Eyewitness News broadcaster specializing in public safety issues and high-profile trials for nearly two decades.
Court coverage probed the controversial deaths of celebrities including Michael Jackson, Anna Nicole Smith and John Ritter.  She detailed the legal travails of former Dodger’s owners Frank and Jamie McCourt, former Clippers owner Donald Sterling, as well Katy Perry, Lindsay Lohan, CeeLo Green, Mel Gibson and Minnie Driver.

Public corruption was the focus in the trials of Bell city leaders and in the federal probe of LA County jails which ended in the conviction the former Sheriff, his assistant Sheriff and multiple deputies.

She reported on Catholic church’s clergy abuse, pursuing the crisis from Los Angeles to Vatican City as Pope John Paul II called a world-wide summit of cardinals.

Miriam Hernandez earned her BA at UCLA and Masters in Mass Communication from the University of Minnesota.

She previously worked for WUSA in Washington, D.C., Good Morning America, and in local stations in Los Angeles, San Diego and St. Louis.
