During my time as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Duarte, I was chosen to represent the City as the SR-710 Stakeholder Outreach Advisory Committee (SOAC) member.  Imagine  serving on a project that was older than me and was more complex than ever imagined. For five years, I learned and participated in topics never dreamed about. You bet I will never look at our freeway systems the same again. But in the end, I was so very grateful to have been a part of it. The passion and knowledge of the community representatives and all the experts was amazing. Although Duarte is physically further away from the immediate impacted area, the 710 would have a direct impact on Duarte as well.  Businesses and residents alike will be traveling on roads that lead to our heavily travelled freeway system and, as we know when traffic is heavy, our city streets.

This week, another milestone was reached. The final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was released. Please take a moment to review the attached press release from Senator Anthony Portantino's office to get caught up to speed on the project with the EIR. It's only a single page.

But for those of you that want more information, here is a link to the documents. The volumes alone are 9,436 pages long.  (Can you imagine how much data we looked over in five years?)  I won't blame you if you don't read the entire EIR, but the executive summary is only 58 pages so it's a little more manageable.
